More Than 51% Of Women In The US Are Single
Friday, January 19, 2007
A new report says 51% of women in the United States are single.
In 2001, more than half of U.S. women said they were living without a husband, compared to 35 percent in 1950 and 49 percent in 2000.
The reasons for this include the trend that women are marrying later or living with unmarried partners. Women are also living longer as widows and delaying remarriage after a divorce.

About Us
Wednesday, January 10, 2007
This site exist with no particular intention in mind other than to amuse others and ourselves. Its just our way of documenting life in this interesting world.
Agatha Christie once said:
"I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing"
Here's our toast to the living.
This is Kate, my best friend, flat mate and "founder" of this site. She is 32 years old and is not particularly dating anyone exclusively at the moment. So if you're reasonably intelligent and attractive, send in an email; she wouldn't mind getting to know you - Kate doesn't really have very high standards when it comes to friendship with men, so its worth a shot.
Kate works for a boutique advertising agency here in London.
Her main contribution to this site is making sure it looks right. In other words, she mainly does the design and tech stuff. Her interests in life are reading, music, traveling and drinking.
She reads The Guardian every morning and likes reading books by Jack Trout and Seth Godin. She listens to David Bowie, U2, Sinead O Connor etc...you know the kind. She's been to most parts of Europe, the US and to Singapore and Malaysia, in the far east. She is partial towards Oban single malts. Kate is simply a terribly fascinating woman.
This is former President Bill Clinton who, according to Kate, has expressed interest in being the advisor to this site as he is currently "retired" and wants something to do. Just for the record, his current contribution to this site is, thus far, ZERO. He is married, as you know, but might consider offers of friendship from interested females. He, like Kate, does not have very high standards when it comes to the opposite sex. So if you really must (contact him)...send in an email titled "for Bill The Kill" and we'll forward it along. He is my kind of President - extremely charming.
Last but never the least, this is me - Mei Lee. For those who can't pronounce that, I'm also known as Elaine. I'm 28 years old, I'm single and not looking. Yes, even if you're rich and good looking - I am not available. And no, I'm not a lesbian.
Unlike Kate, I work for a medium sized recruitment agency here. Being the lowest in the hierarchy for this site, I do whatever Kate and Bill don't want to do. In other words, I do almost everything. Yes, I do select the stories, so if you don't like them - FCUK Off.
I like reading, music and drinking. I'm not very keen in travelling too much.
I read whatever newspapers that are in the office, or those available for free, online.
I've read books by Jack Kerouac, Hermann Hesse, Joseph Heller etc, that kind of genre. Yes, I do read good books. I am partial to the works of Wynton Marsalis, Thelonious Monk, Lenny Kravitz and Mick Jagger. I occasionally listen to Madonna, just to fit in with the generic crowd. Just because most of the musicians I like are black, does not mean I particularly prefer dating black men. Period.
I've been to the US, Canada, France, Singapore and Malaysia, in the far east. I also like single malts, but have no particular brand preference. I usually, drink beer - Stella Artois. And yes, I do smoke - Silk Cuts and roll ups.
This is Howard, our neighbour. He is 20 years old and is an undergraduate reading sociology at a university here.
He is single but never without the company of female friends.
Apart from his frequent and noisy late night parties that prevent hard working adults like me from getting a good nights sleep, he is very generous with his time and views about many things - he runs errands for us and is a self proclaimed life critic.
He is a frequent contributor to this site; mostly by way of giving us suggestions and ideas - which are nevertheless appreciated.
Howard has many interests in life. But his major ones are parties, women and drinking excessively. He has found particular favour for attending and hosting parties. Keeping women company, is a close second and an ancillary activity to partying. He enjoys drinking anything that contains alcohol and is free, or close to being free.
So ladies (and men), if you're interested in contacting Howard, send us an email. He might reply to your mails if you offer to pay for the drinks of his next party - but that's no guarantee that you'll be invited to attend it.
Howard is the king of cool, at 20.
