Chocolate Started As A Beer

This urn from northern Honduras is similar to the ones found to the earliest known evidence of the use of the cacao plant -- the source of chocolate.

The chocolate was discovered at least 3,100 years ago in Central America but not as the sweet treat as we know today but as a celebratory beer- like beverage and status symbol, researchers claimed.
